Joshua Catalano

Early America, Digital History, & Public History

I am an assistant professor in the Department of History and Geography at Clemson University and the coordinator of the public history program. Before coming to Clemson, I received my doctorate at George Mason University where I worked as a research assistant at the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media. My research focuses on the role of symbolism and language in the process of settler colonialism. My current manuscript project analyzes the production, dissemination, and continual reinterpretation of the memory of the Gnadenhutten Massacre and the burning of Colonel William Crawford.
